Signal head insertion modules with 40V LED technology
In contrast to light bulbs, LED signal heads operated with a voltage of 40V offer evident benefits:
Existing systems can use the new technology and, beside 90 per cent less energy consumption, LED signal heads have a considerably longer durability. The road user can see the signals and symbols much better as brightness and a special light distribution optimize signaling. Moreover, all measures in order to reduce phantom light by means of reflectors that are necessary for conventional signal heads can be omitted as the LED insertion module is compliant with phantom light class 5.
In connection with the Signalbau Huber standard traffic controllers MTC 3000 / MTC 5000, LED signal heads can be monitored reliably according to DIN VDE 0832. Cost-intensive retrofittings and conversions are not necessary because Signalbau Huber traditionally develops and offers controllers in 40V technology. The signal heads have closed housings (protection class IP65) and are therefore protected against effects of the weather. Installation and maintenance are facilitated as 40V systems do not require special protection measures.
Signalbau Huber has already installed the first traffic lights with low voltage LED signal heads in the German cities Bochum, Lünen and Ludwigsburg.
