Road Control Installation Spreebogen Tiergarten Tunnel (TTS), Berlin
The Signalbau Huber subsidiary Weiss-Electronic equipped the Berlin Spreebogen Tiergarten Tunnel (TTS) with a Road Control Installation. The 2.4km tunnel acts to relieve the parliamentary and government district of through traffic and connects the supply routes of the Daimler-Chrysler and Sony service centres as well as the indoor car park of the Lehrter Train Station. This turns the Tiergarten Park, under which the tunnel was built, back into a city leisure area.
In cases where the tunnel is blocked, a network-influencing system redirects the traffic automatically via the connected road network. In the tunnel itself, the control unit reacts to the very different requirements of the building control and communication system, traffic monitoring system and the traffic situation. Special software controls and monitors these processes and thus ensures that the entire installation always reacts in a way that safeguards the traffic flow in every possible situation.
A total of 258 LED variable message signs, 28 variable signposts, 88 prism indexers, 93 radar detectors and 8 guiding and blocking barriers are controlled by the computer control centre and 61 control devices.
