TRAFFIC DATA ACQUISITION

Radar Detector RD 2002

Radar Detection

Application range:
  • Radar Detector 2002-94: The RD2002/94 represents a compact radar detector for the detection of traffic data of flowing traffic.
The detection range of a detector is limited to one lane. It is designed for overhead mounting on bridges, cantilevers or similar relatively vibration-free installations. For object detection the detector receives and sends microwaves with a frequency of 24.125 GHz. An object (vehicle), moving in the transmission/reception range of the detector causes a frequency shift (Doppler effect) of the emitted signal, which is measured and analysed. Due to this procedure only moving vehicles can be detected and the allocation and classification of the vehicles can only be achieved by determination of the object length. The vehicles are classified as car-similar or lorry-similar.

The device is to be used in combination with an IOC (Input/Output Concentrator), since this parameterises the RD. The IOC administers all parameters for the RD and hands these over according to TLS agreements. Upon request the vehicle data is handed over to the IOC as so-called individual vehicle-data records. According to the options the IOC arranges the data to interval data and prepares them for delivery to the CM (Control Module).

  • Radar Detector Series RDx: The RD_L232 radar sensor measures the speed of objects and switches a relay when the adjusted speed value is exceeded. The detectors are mounted beside or above the road. The sensitivity can be adjusted. A distance range of approx. 70 m can be realised.

The standard version has a serial RS232 interface. Optionally available is a version with Hex-switches for parameterising. The detection direction (arriving, leaving or bi-directional), the relay hold time and the relay function "fail-safe" can be adjusted.

A floating relay contact is provided as switching output. The standard impulse length is 1 sec.  The high protection class (IP66) and the wide range of working temperature allow the outside use  of the device.
